Bio
Phyllis Ashe is the STEM Coordinator at the Innovation Center.  After 20+ years in education, she found her way back to SVVSD.  Phyllis started her educational career in St Vrain as a 6th grade elementary teacher.  From there she taught 4th and 5th grade as well.  With a master degree in gifted and talented education, she made the move to Massachusetts as the K-8 District Gifted and Talented Coordinator.  Phyllis couldn’t stay away from the beautiful Rocky Mountains for long and returned to Colorado as a K-5 science teacher in BVSD.  From there, she won a Research Team Fellowship with the EarthWatch International Organization traveling to the beautiful islands of Fiji studying damage to Coral Reefs caused by hurricanes, and their subsequent recovery. Back in BVSD, she reprised her gifted and talented role as the advisor for BVSD Manhattan Middle School.  While in this role, Phyllis also lent her expertise to CU Boulder as a lecturer for Science Explorers / Science Discovery Programs.  She continues to work with CU and has brought her vast knowledge of science and STEM back to SVVSD as the IC STEM Coordinator.  In her “free” time, she enjoys hiking, biking, traveling, and baking.
