Intro – Sustainability Studies

 What is sustainability? Well, this class might have some answers! In this introductory course, students will learn about a wide array of topics within the sustainability sector. This survey course will explore topics including the history of sustainability, sustainable design, waste management, sustainable food systems, and natural resource conservation, to name a few. Students will get to learn about these topics through a mix of lectures, case studies, and guest speakers. By learning about cutting-edge innovation in the climate sector, green trades & professional skills, frameworks for strategic sustainability planning, and exposure to current industry leaders in our own community, students will leave this course feeling confident and inspired to build on this knowledge with actionable steps catered to their career aspirations. Students will be given a high level of agency in deciding the research topics that they dive into throughout the semester through a book report, career exploration with industry professionals, and more!
