P-Teach: Introduction to Early Childhood Education

Due to inclement weather with forecasted extremely cold early morning temperatures, all schools in the St. Vrain Valley School District will be on a weather delay, and school will start 2 hours later than our normal schedule for Tuesday, January 21. Click here for information about inclement weather schedules.

When the district remains open, but you believe that weather conditions in your specific area are unsafe or otherwise problematic for transporting your student to school, please feel free to contact your school’s attendance clerk to obtain an excused absence for your student. If weather conditions cause you to keep your student at home, they will be able to make up any missed schoolwork without penalty.

Are you interested in learning more about the world of Early Childhood Education, ages birth-3rd grade?

This course provides an overview of the early childhood profession and the philosophical and historical foundations of services to young children and their families. State and national trends, resources and standards for early childhood care and education, professionalism, and code of ethical conduct are examined. Key areas of ECE professional knowledge are introduced: developmental domains and milestones, developmentally appropriate practice, evidence--based practice and intentional teaching, curriculum models, guidance strategies, family and community relationships, diversity and inclusion, and the leadership skills and organizational climate to support quality early care and education work settings.

This course is offered every year during the fall semester.

This course is concurrent enrollment with CU-Denver. Students earn 3 college credits upon successful completion of this course.
