Bioscience Explorers
Learn about life in space!
This is an introductory course to the bioscience pathway. Students will be introduced to current research in the fields of AgInnovation and human and animal biometrics all through the concepts and challenges of Bioastronautics. Students will work with NASA to complete a NASA Hunch biomedical engineering challenge of their choice. In addition to the scientific learnings, students will learn communication and collaboration skills through numerous engineering design challenges. This course provides for experiential learning beyond the classroom, experiencing current research lab tools and methodology, and building relationships that support growing careers in the bioscience pathway.

SVVSD Innovation Center students present VR project at NASA conference
Erie High senior Kayla Evans and Niwot High junior Katelin VonFeldt are looking to help NASA address isolation challenges for astronauts by combining virtual reality and sensory-based memory triggers with exercise. They’re creating the project for NASA HUNCH, a program that engages high school and college students in real-world research and development for space missions.
