Empowering High School Innovators to Serve the Community
Drones for Dreams is a student-led initiative that pairs cutting-edge drone technology with a passion for community service.
Founded by Silver Creek High School student Braeden Macchia, the program operates out of the St. Vrain Valley Schools Innovation Center. Through this initiative, high school students utilize advanced drone hardware and piloting skills to deliver pro bono aerial imaging, video production, and technical services to local and regional nonprofit organizations.
The program bridges the gap between classroom learning and real-world impact. By offering services free of charge, the student drone team provides area nonprofits with high-quality digital assets and technical support these organizations might not otherwise be able to afford. In return, high school students gain invaluable, hands-on professional experience, learning how to manage real client projects, operate in professional environments, and apply technical skills toward meaningful goals.
Beyond aerial media, Drones for Dreams represents a growing culture of philanthropy and service learning at the Innovation Center. The team’s success demonstrates how young innovators can turn their personal technical passions into lasting community change, inspiring similar service-focused initiatives across high school project teams in media production, design, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.
