A room full of music lovers, creators, and innovators who work to share opportunities with the community to experience music in groundbreaking ways. This is the Innovation Center Symphonation Team. We specialize in community events, summer camps, educational presentations, and more. We aspire to touch the hearts and minds of students district wide with our passion for music in all of its forms. Symphonation is always looking for new members and would love to hear about your musical interests and contributions.

A group of nine people, including students and an adult, pose together in a modern indoor setting with plants.

Mission

Utilizing music, sound, and technology in new ways to add or change value and find solutions.

Vision

To share, create, and grow new opportunities for the community to experience, discover, and learn music in new and groundbreaking ways.

Past & Current Projects

These are music production workshops for all students grade 8-12 within the district. We help students write, format, and even record music.

These are networking events that focus on bringing people together, providing a space for performance, and providing exposure to innovative instruments.

The Symphonation Team developed a new GT rubric for identifying gifted students related to music. The previous rubric was very performance based and made it difficult to identify students with unique musical talents. The newly created rubric is more nuanced and allows for all types of musically gifted students to be identified.

Data sonification is the creation of sound and/or music from a particular data set. The Symphonation team has explored a device called the Plant Wave, which measures the electrical impulses within plants, and algorithmically converts that data to music through an app. Symphonation has presented on this to preschool students in SVVSD, and engaged in other activities with it, as well.

Symphonation has presented on their work at the ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) annual conference, the WAICY (World Artificial Intelligence Competition for Youth) event, and the Colorado Music Educators Association conference.

This is an AI chat bot that helps users identify their emotions based on clips of music. It combines emotional regulation and AI music.

Through a partnership with Front Range Instrument Repair, we have previously held both a project team and course for musical instrument repair.

Services

The Symphonation Team is currently working on a platform that will connect student-led bands, composers/producers, and musical artists with services, events, and gigs. Companies and individuals will be able to hire a band to perform at an event or create music for their particular purpose.

We run both elementary and secondary summer camps focused around music innovation, as well as workshops and events throughout the school year. In these camps and events, students explore, are educated in, and experience the four pillars of music innovation: music industry, music education, science of sound, and design/engineering of music and sound. If you are interested in us teaching or mentoring a group of people in any of these aspects, please contact us!

The Symphonation Team is currently building a roster of student musical producers and experts that can tailor royalty free music and original songs to your needs. Stay tuned for this exciting service to add custom music to your next project!
