3D Modeling Innovation (Formerly Intro to 3D Model & Animation)

Craft Your Hero: 3D Model, Story, and Inspire!

In this hands-on course, students will explore the dynamic world of 3D modeling using Blender and various 2D software applications. The primary focus will be on creating a unique action figure inspired by a "hero" from history or personal experience.

Students will embark on a journey that combines artistic creativity and technical skills, learning to design and model their action figure for multiple formats, including rendered still images and animations. The final product will also be suitable for 3D printing, ensuring that the model is articulated and posable.

Throughout the course, students will conduct research on their chosen hero, developing a compelling backstory that will serve as the foundation for their project. This will culminate in the creation of a storyboard and a concise origin story graphic novel, limited to 6-7 pages. Each student will package their graphic novel alongside their action figure, creating a cohesive narrative experience.

By the end of the course, students will have not only honed their 3D modeling skills but also gained experience in storytelling, character design, and the practical aspects of preparing a model for production. This innovative course is ideal for aspiring artists, designers, and storytellers eager to bring their ideas to life.

Advanced Ground Instructor Internship

Students will demonstrate mastery in two areas: Fundamentals of Instructing (FOI) and Advanced Ground Instructor (AGI).

FOI reviews the areas of The Learning Process, The Teaching Process, Teaching Methods, Evaluation, Flight Instructor Characteristics and Responsibility, Human Factors, and Planning Instructional Activities. By the end of the section, students will be able to pass the FAA Fundamentals of Instructing Knowledge Exam with a minimum score or 70%.

After completing Fundamentals of Instruction, Students will then be able to move on to teach aeronautical knowledge. AGI reviews the areas of Airplanes and Aerodynamics, Airplane Performance, Airplane Instruments, Engines, and Systems, Airports, Airspace and Air Traffic Control, Weight and Balance, Aviation Weather, Federal Aviation Regulations, Navigation, Flight Maneuvers, and Aeromedical Factors. By the end of the section, students will be able to pass the FAA Advanced Ground Instructor Knowledge Exam with a minimum passing score of 70%.

By the end of the course, students will be eligible to be certified FAA Ground Instructors. Student age must be 18 to become certified. These exams expire after 2 years. Students must be at least 16 to take the exams to ensure certification.

Advanced Robotics

Compete with Underwater Robots!

This class prepares students to compete against other high school, community college and university teams from around the country and world in the 2024 MATE Underwater Robotics Competition. Our team will design, build, and test an underwater drone, and will also develop a marketing approach to sell our product. You will learn and apply engineering skills like computer-aided design, fabrication, electronics, programming and principles of aquatic physics. We will at a minimum participate in one regional competition in the US; if we qualify, we will participate in the 2024 MATE World Championships hosted in Tennessee.

Any student is welcome to enroll. The main requirement is a strong interest in learning something new, a firm commitment to the team, and committing to participating in the International competition in June if the team qualifies. Fundraising may be required in order to travel to events and acquire some of the course materials.Ā

Anatomical Case Studies VR

As part of the Innovation Center Bioscience pathway, students use the CSU Virtual Reality (VR) program in the classroom environment. Students explore clinical studies and case trials in which they try to solve using the VR program. Students will work with CSU mentors in virtual reality to navigate through the human body. Final case study presentations will be given to current health care professionals. By the end of this class, students will have applied medical terminology and understanding of anatomy and physiology to real world applications, as well as worked on professional collaboration with medical industry professionals.

Credits: 0.5 Science Credits (Students will earn 0.5 Science credits starting the 23/24 school year if they still need science credit. If the districtā€™s science credit requirement has been met, then this class will count as 0.5 Practical Arts credit.)

Uncover the magic behind the internet! AP Cybersecurity 1: Networking Fundamentals, the first course in the AP Cybersecurity Pathway, is a full-year high school course that covers the fundamentals of networking. It is equivalent to a college-level Introduction to Networking course. Conservation Data Science

Investigate biological facets and collect data!Ā 

Ā The course focuses on current data collection in our local community and teaches data science skills that are highly sought after in todayā€™s physical science world. Students will gain practical experience with data science tools and collection methods, as well as data organization and presentation used in industry today. Data collection includes sensor work and is heavy in the environmental sciences. Students will work with several community partners to apply the data to real world problems as we work with live aquatic species. Students will complete the state recognized River Watch certification that covers procedures in water quality monitoring. Welcome to Drone Applications, where we not only sharpen your drone skills but also show you how to put them to work in the real world. Before you join us, make sure to complete the Drone Flight Essentials course. If you already have a Part 107 Pilot License, that's a fantastic advantage! Throughout this course, you'll work with a team on actual drone projects as we embark in offsite jobs during class to gain real world experience and apply the practical side of these exciting technologies. We aim to team up with industry professionals and take a look at how experts use drones in their day-to-day work. You will learn how to use Mission Planner and the built in technologies to map missions using a variety of drones depending on the job requirements. Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), commonly known as drones, have become a part of the modern technological landscape. Gain hands-on experience in maneuvering drones, mastering essential flight techniques, and understanding the principles of safe operation. Explore the world of both fixed-wing and multirotor drones, and discover the unique capabilities and applications of each type. Develop the skills and knowledge required to become a Certified Drone Pilot in the National Airspace System. Even if you're new to aviation, you'll grasp important concepts such as pilot-in-command responsibilities, aircraft performance, aviation meteorology, and the flight environment. Principles of Biomedical Engineering

Creating for the future of medicine! This lecture-based course through Colorado State University exposes students to how mechanical engineering, chemical/biological engineering, and electrical engineering principles can be applied to current biomedical challenges. Private Pilot Ground School

Private Pilot Ground School presents aeronautical knowledge for student pilots focused on the Cessna C-172 Skyhawk and its systems and instruments, basic aerodynamics, aircraft performance, the flight environment, communication procedures, Federal Aviation Regulations, navigation, weather, and aeromedical factors. This course will prepare the student for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Private Pilot Airplane knowledge examination, a requirement to become a certified Private Pilot. Students will be able to master flying skills such as takeoffs, landings, and performance maneuvers to the proficiency of Airmen Certificate Standards (ACS).
