This project fosters artistic skills and allows a deep dive into the vibrant world of anime, video game characters, or anything you can imagine.

Have you ever wondered how an airplane flies? You’re not alone! For ages, people have gazed to the sky and pondered flight. In the past century, aircraft have made tremendous advances through scientific discoveries. In this camp, you will learn about the scientific principles that make an airplane fly – whether it is a Boeing airliner or a paper airplane – by building and test flying your own Drone! We will explore different airplane designs by building them, and learn about the different ways they fly!

Wonder what you can do to improve the life in your community and love design challenges? This camp is definitely for you! In this camp, you will work with the Butterfly Pavilion to learn about specific species and their necessities for life. You will complete a habitat design challenge and present your 3D printed habitat at the Butterfly Pavilion on the last day of camp. You will need to complete this permission slip for the field trip. You will also work with bioengineering concepts through the use of medical imaging in virtual reality and Arduino. After being introduced to circuiting and coding with the Arduino Microcontroller, campers will design and build a motoring device to address a health concern of their choice. No experience with coding, circuits, or Arduino required to join!

Do you like putting on a lab coat and doing science experiments in your kitchen? If so, then join us to learn how to use biotechnology equipment while cultivating bacteria, using 3D printers to explore biomedical engineering concepts, conduct water quality experiments while evaluating aquatic species, and explore microclimates at a solar farm! Please sign this permission slip for our field excursions and turn in on the first day of camp.

Let’s go full STEAM-ahead into the summer with hands-on coding and prototyping. Campers will cover everything from physical science concepts to engineering design / prototyping to coding the fundamentals (conditionals, loop, debugging, etc…) as they plan their own party celebration for their favorite stuffed animal! Days 1-3 incorporate learning and planning and Day 4 ends with a class celebration!

Have you ever wondered what VEX IQ robotics is like and you want to try VEX IQ but not in a competitive setting – this is the class for you. 

Students will learn about the design process and how to build a VEX IQ claw robot. The second week students will be driving and programming the robot with the new VEX challenge. 

**if students attend a SVVSD school, we ask them to bring their iPads for camp to be used for coding.

Do you enjoy brainstorming ideas, solving problems, building things, or helping people? Join us and explore your creative side by using Design Thinking to tackle problems you are interested in solving! Connect with the people you are trying to help, learn everything you can about the problem they are facing, brainstorm as many solutions as possible, build prototypes to test your ideas, and ask the people you are trying to help for their suggestions. Finally, share your best idea in our final showcase!

Interested in robotics and want to explore what building a robot is like? Students will build a VEX Go robot and learn to drive. The second week students will learn to code their robot and participate in a VEX Go Competition Challenge called Ocean Exploration.

Do you have a great idea you want to turn into a reality? Join us and explore the world of Entrepreneurship! Find a problem to solve, understand your customers, brainstorm unique solutions, plan how to sell and earn money, and design and prototype your idea. Finally, show off your creation by pitching it in a Mini Shark Tank event!

Have you ever dreamed of sending a robot into outer space? Learn how we use robots to explore space as well as how humans plan to colonize Mars! You will use the Vex IQ robotic system to create your own Mars Lander to explore the Martian terrain. You will design, build, and program your own robot to complete a Mars themed mission.

Do you love music and want to explore the world of sound and music in new ways?  Join us for a Music Innovation Summer Camp!  Get hands-on experience in many areas of music innovation including: music challenges with tech and coding, explore plant music and instruments/sound around us.  Then create and design your own instrument and music while learning how to record and edit.  By the end of camp, you will showcase your creation for families and have your own recorded piece. Parents are invited to join the last day of camp from 10:30am-11:30am to view the showcase.

Campers are welcome to bring a musical instrument of their own if they so wish, but it is not necessary.

Robots are magic. The opportunity for them to do useful things is large but has been limited to the world of roboticists. Now, with Misty II, students can learn how to unleash their potential by bringing the magic of social robots to life. Misty II provides a new world of opportunities with robots for business, personal, research and educational use. She has a lot of capabilities for students to explore: movement, speech, and even vision recognition. This camp will teach students the tools to start developing their own skills on the Misty II while learning about all the different ways social robots are being used in our society. The best thing is – no coding experience is necessary!

Studio Film Lab is a unique opportunity for middle school students to explore the art and craft of filmmaking. It focuses on teaching the fundamentals of cinematography, lighting, sound, and editing, as well as the craft of storytelling, so that students can create their own short films. At the end of the lab, participants will have the chance to showcase their films in a special screening and receive feedback from industry professionals. Studio Film Lab provides an exciting and immersive experience for any budding filmmaker, allowing them to unleash their creativity and generate their very own film masterpiece.

Movie Magic Camp is a one-of-a-kind summer experience for 3rd – 5th graders. At Movie Magic Camp, campers will explore the art and science of filmmaking to create their own short movies. Campers will learn the basics of cinematography, lighting, and storytelling, as well as how to use editing software to bring their visions to life. Movie Magic Camp provides an unforgettable adventure for any aspiring filmmaker, allowing them to unlock their imagination and create their own unique works of art.

Build your first underwater robot! From construction to competition, students will journey from idea to creation, and from creation to implementation.  Students will work in small teams and the end goal will be to compete in a driving competition together. Students will have a great deal of autonomy with their robot designs, and will follow the engineering design process as they test and iterate on their original plans.  At the completion of the camp, students will feel well-versed in the core concepts of basic robotic systems including experience with 3D movement, propulsion-based drive systems, and basic hands-on fabrication methods (i.e. hammers, drills, drivers, etc.).
